Before she began making one-of-a-kind beaded necklaces, Janis Provisor was a renowned painter. Now Provisor chooses gemstones the same way she picks paint colors. From her downtown Manhattan studio, the artist and jewelry designer creates pieces that are internationally recognized for their bold color pairings and their significant size. According to Provisor, “Almost all women who buy my designs are collectors of contemporary art. They just get it.”
